(EA)<sup>2</sup> provides two different types of IT software.
IT Applications
IT applications (stereotyped as <<EA2 IT App>>) provide various capabilities for your IT environment, like integration, virus protection, data encryption, ETL tools, etc. These are modeled as UML components, just like the Business Apps.
Execution Environments
Execution environments enable other software to run. They include operating systems, application servers, browsers, and database management systems. There are modeled as UML nodes that are tagged as execution environments. Business Apps and/or their components, IT Apps, Client Apps, are nested inside their execution environments on Servers (see Servers).
